Two new jockeys will join the Kranji riding ranks after Brazilian Ivaldo Santana de Oliveira and South African Gregory Cheyne were granted a licences for 2012 by the Singapore Turf Club.
Santana has been licensed from January 15 to June 30 while Cheyne is licensed from February 1 to July 31.
Santana, 30, has notched close to 800 winners in his 11 years of riding in Brazil where he is currently licensed by the Jockey Club of Sao Paulo.
The Brazilian jockey, who has won 48 Group and Listed races including 12 at Group 1 level, goes to scale at 50.5kg.
Cheyne, 35, is an experienced South African jockey with more than 1100 winners to his name, including the 2009 Durban July with Big City Life as his biggest success among his 61 Black Type wins.
Cheyne moved to Hong Kong after his Durban July win where he rode for three seasons.
The highlight of his stay was a win aboard Sweet Sanette in the G3 Bauhinia Sprint Trophy in 2010.
Cheyne has also represented South Africa at a jockeys' series in South Korea in 2008.
