Tip Of The Day: 24th October

Thomas Hodgson returns with two selections on Thursday afternoon…

Today's horse racing tips.

Ah Remy Martin looks like an unexposed quantity to follow in the Coumshingaun Handicap Chase (16:48) at Clonmel on Thursday.

The son of Walk In The Park took to the bigger obstacles like a duck to water last time out at Cork, having previously shown plenty of promise over hurdles through the winter. In a field dominated by exposed types, it may be worth chancing a younger sort who seems poised to improve.

Thomas Gibney's charge vies for favouritism at the top of the market with General Clermont, who fell last time of asking over hurdles. While it may seem all too obvious, he seems too short at 7/2 with that in mind.

A step-up in trip is all the more cause to be strong on Ah Remy Martin given he finished off his race nicely at Cork when making all, looking like the type who would get even further in time. A mark of 110 seems lenient and should put him well in contention to make it back-to-back wins here.

WIN – AH REMY MARTIN – 7/2

Temper Trap, having previously sunk to a career-low mark, could be set to run up a sequence of three consecutive victories in the Good Luck and Farewell Sam Mcnamara Handicap (17:00) at Nottingham on Thursday.

Tim Easterby's charge has form in the book for this sort of thing, having completed a handicap hat-trick last season and two series of back-to-back wins the season prior to that.

Having won cosily last time out at Redcar, I would suggest that the handicapper hasn't quite got a firm grip on this one yet with an official rating of 62 likely underestimating him.

The ground will also be to his advantage, having won in the mud at Redcar and Leicester in recent weeks.

A penalty ought not prevent him from completing the hat trick.

WIN – TEMPER TRAP – 5/2
