UK: Oaks Winner Suffers Setback

3 minute read

Oaks winner Dancing Rain has had the start of her four-year-old campaign delayed after picking up an injury which could keep her sidelined until the second half of the season.

The daughter of Danehill Dancer gave William Haggas his second classic triumph when overcoming Wonder Of Wonders in the Oaks last June.

She went on to land the German equivalent before beating older rivals in the G2 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot in October.

Dancing Rain was being prepared for a possible return to Epsom for the G1 Diamond Jubilee Coronation Cup on June 2.

Now Haggas will be hoping to have the mare back for races like the G1 Yorkshire Oaks at York on August 23.

Haggas said: "Dancing Rain has had a set back and she won't be back in action until late summer. Hopefully she will then be fresh for an autumn campaign."

Dancing Rain ended her three-year-old campaign in Japan where she beat only one home behind Snow Fairy in the G1 QE II Commemorative Cup in Tokyo in November.
