Kim Bailey is looking forward to seeing how Darna gets on in Saturday's Caspian Caviar Gold Cup, but Dan Skelton has ruled What A Warrior out of the race.
Darna returned from over two years off the track to win a decent contest at Sedgefield last month and steps up markedly in class.
Given a 10lb hike by the handicapper, his future now lies in races like the Cheltenham feature and the Gloucestershire handler could not have been happier with his comeback win.
Darna is a general 14-1 chance behind 7-2 favourite Caid Du Berlais, Paul Nicholls' Paddy Power Gold Cup winner.
"I was absolutely thrilled with his comeback," said Bailey.
"The sting in the tail was that his two main market rivals didn't complete, Hi George unseated his rider and Alderbook Lad pulled up, and the three were co-favourites.
"So, what the form is worth I have no idea but he couldn't have done it any easier and he's going there in good form."
What A Warrior won his first two starts for Skelton, including the valuable United House Gold Cup at Ascot, but he was pulled up in the Hennessy Gold Cup two weeks ago.
"He's not going to run on Saturday. We're going to leave him until the spring," said Skelton.
"I think this race has come too fast (after the Hennessy). I would have loved to run him, but it comes too quickly.
"We'll just wait for the spring and better ground."
