All systems go for Cesarewitch

David Pipe has revealed that his impressive winner of the Betfred Cesarewitch Trial, Low Key is on target for a crack at the Cesarewitch, a heritage handicap which will be run on the second day of Dubai Future Champions Festival, on this Saturday.

76 horses have accepted at the latest stage with Pipe doubly represented with Low Key and Alternatif who has recently been running over jumps. The Betfred Cesarewitch has been a successful race for the Pipe family over the years with David’s father Martin winning the race in 2000 and 2002 with Heros Fatal and Miss Fara.

“Low Key has been fine since winning the Trial and it is all systems go for the Betfred Cesarewitch. Obviously he’ll need a couple to come out in order to get in the race but history shows that he should get in fine at this stage,” said Pipe

“He seems to be improving but he has always had the profile of a horse who could win a big handicap on the Flat. We were slightly unsure whether he would get the trip but he proved in the Trial that the trip is no problem.”

“In regards to the ground, he is fairly versatile so I am not too worried about that. “We will get the Betfred Cesarewitch over with first and see where we are at in regards to going back over hurdles later in the year; he’s not overly big but is very tough.”

“Alternatif has been running over jumps but I’ve since given him a break. Again we have to see whether or not he’ll get in but if he doesn’t then we have the Irish Cesarewitch to consider as well.”

Betfred Spokesman Andrew Griffiths, said Low Key hit the high notes in the Betfred Cesarewitch Trial and it’s hard to see anything that finished in behind reversing the form in the main event.

“Those punters that snapped up our initial quote of 14/1 after the race are sitting pretty now as David Pipe’s charge is out in front of the pack at 8/1,” said Griffiths
