Charlie Appleby believes the Curragh should suit Boynton down to the ground in the Goffs Vincent O'Brien National Stakes on September 11.

The Newmarket handler has earmarked the Group One prize as the next port of call for last month's Superlative Stakes winner, who lost his unbeaten record after he failed to defy a penalty when third in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

Appleby said: "Boynton is going to go for the National Stakes."

He went on: "I think the track will suit him and I am quite happy to take him to Ireland.

"The track slightly beat us at Goodwood and he was unlucky not to get the run he wanted to.

"When he broke his maiden there it was over a straight six (furlongs) but last time it was the first time that the horse had encountered a turn.

"I was pleased with the way he galloped out carrying the 3lb the last day, as well.

"I thought it was a good performance."
