Al Mubhir fancied to go close on Ayr raid

3 minute read

Al Mubhir can strike for William Haggas and Tom Marquand in the Virgin Bet Kilkerran Cup Handicap at Ayr.

EMILY UPJOHN.

The three-year-old will be having just his fifth career start and after making a decent start to his handicapping career, he must be one for the shortlist.

Winner of a Newmarket maiden at the backend of last term, Al Mubhir was not disgraced in subsequent conditions and novice runs before shaping with plenty of promise when beaten just under three lengths off a mark of 91 at Goodwood last month.

While no match for Savvy Victory, it was a decent return from a 100-day break and Al Mubhir should strip much fitter for the outing.

Remembering could also be on the mark for the Somerville Lodge team in the British Stallion Studs Scottish Premier Series EBF Fillies' Handicap.

Placed on two initial starts the beginning of the year, including a distant third behind Emily Upjohn on her racecourse bow, Remembering was given a bit of time over the summer and that patience paid dividends as she returned with a Catterick novice win last month.

She raced freely that day, making all over a mile and a half, but it was her first start for three months so her exuberance could be put down to freshness and while the Frankel filly drops back to 10 furlongs here, that may not be a negative.

Valley Forge has been set some tough tasks this term, not least in taking on Trueshan in the Northumberland Plate after winning a handicap at Haydock in May.

He cut little ice against that Group One performer, or in two subsequent runs at Goodwood and in the Ebor, but Valley Forge sill merits plenty of respect in the Moulton Nurseries Handicap at Yarmouth.

Andrew Balding's charge is dropping down the ratings a bit now, racing here off a mark of 92 in a less competitive affair which gives him every chance.

Nammos hit the bar first time out but should be able to get off the mark in the second division of the British EBF Fillies' Novice Stakes.

Sent off a 28-1 shot at Ascot earlier this month, she was denied by just a head but the experience should not be lost on her.

Another Romance can follow up her recent Salisbury success in the British EBF Premier Fillies' Handicap at Pontefract.

She will have to improve again to confirm the form with second-placed Al Simmo who reopposes on more favourable terms, but Another Romance was far from all out in victory.

The Racing League concludes at Newcastle and Out From Under looks an obvious type to help Frankie Dettori end on a victory.

A comfortable winner at Kempton last time, the William Hill Best Odds Guaranteed Racing League R39 looks well within his compass.

Vanity Affair can snap a losing run of over a year in the William Hill Play Responsibly Racing League R37.

He has had just four runs since triumphing last May, but has not run badly in any of them and remains on a handy mark.
