Preview: Yarmouth Thursday

3 minute read

Great Yarmouth is the lead meeting on Thursday’s fixture list with a competitive Class 4 handicap and maiden.

Racecourse : Great Yarmouth (Great Britain)

A former course and distance winner, Arlo's Sunshine appears a good chance for the 1m Class 6 Download The At The Races App Handicap (2:00). He placed third in these conditions on his last start and is the only horse in the field to have won at the track.

In the 7f Class 5 British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes (2:30), it is hard to look past Charlie Appleby's Inner City. A beautifully bred two-year-old colt, Inner City is the first raced foal out of Group 1 Pretty Polly Stakes winner Urban Fox. He will be accompanied by Godolphin's second runner from the Saeed bin Suroor stable, Royal Army. The Masar colt is a half-brother to Black Type performers Military March and Clongowes.

Damascus Steel deserved to break through for a win when recording a seven length victory at Windsor and can add to his tally in the 1m3½f Class 6 Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap (3:00). He may face tough opposition in the form of Twilight Guest who continues to make headway with each run since a break and produced a competitive third at Southwell on the all-weather last start.

Ghara has been found an ideal opportunity to break her maiden in the 1m3½f Class 4 Moulton Nurseries Maiden Stakes (3:30) and drops considerably in class. She was last seen finishing a close fourth in the Listed Oaks Trial at Lingfield (run on all-weather) and was only beaten two-and-a-half-lengths by Eternal Hope. Qatar Racing's King Of The Plains is a son of Roaring Lion and will probably improve for his debut third at Chester where the track may not have suited.

The 1m Class 4 Grosvenor We Bet You'Ll Love Us Handicap (4:00) is a competitive affair and Bling On The Music heads the current betting for trainer Ed Walker. He is a worth favourite despite a disappointing reappearance at Musselburgh and should appreciate the step up in trip. His main opposition appears to be Lady Eros, who boasts an excellent pedigree as full-sister to Aidan O'Brien's smart Black Type performer Smart Folks. She is yet to show the same level of form but is expected to improve for a poor effort at Ascot on return to action.

Cancan In The Rain will be looking to make an impact on stable debut for Charlie Johnston in the 7f Class 5 Sky Sports Racing Sky 415 Handicap (4:30) as a former course and distance winner. Jockey Cieran Fallon could close off the day with a success in the 7f Class 5 At The Races App Expert Tips Handicap (5:00). Crack Regiment  looks capable of going one better than his head second at Kempton Park on the all-weather.
