Group 3 winner Marshman has suffered a pelvic injury and will miss the remainder of the season.
Karl Burke's sprinter was preparing for a run in the Group 1 Nunthorpe Stakes at York on Friday when experiencing a setback in training.
The son of Harry Angel was Group placed as a juvenile and made a winning return to the track in April, recording an easy success in the Group 3 Prix Signy at Chantilly.
Although unable to win at Group level since, the three-year-old produced a big effort when third in the Group 2 Prix Gros-Chene at the same track in early June.
"He went for a breeze early last week and came back sore," explained Nick Bradley, managing director of owner's Nick Bradley Racing.
"We sent him for a bone scan and it's not conclusive, but it looks like a suspected pelvic injury. I think that will be him done for the year.
"We'll bring him back next year. Three can be a hard age for sprinters, so we'll try again at four."
