Sam King’s Horse Racing Tips Today

Sam King advised 13/2 and 11/8 winners yesterday and returns with three selections on this fine Friday.

Today's horse racing tips

Charlie Appleby has saddled nine winners from twenty-four runners in the last fourteen days and his record at HQ needs no further explanation.

Silver Lady was all the talk after a scintillating debut performance at Newmarket and I'm expecting her to get back to winning ways in the Listed Dubai British EBF Rosemary Stakes at 1.50.

The form of her debut success over course and distance is nothing to write home about but she travelled and quickened up in the manner of a very smart filly that day. She was also fairly impressive on the clock and it's no surprise connections opted for a crack at Listed level next-time-out.

Charlie Appleby's daughter of Sea The Stars was sent off the 2/1 market leader to retain her unbeaten record that day but she faltered close home when beaten a neck into third. It was a performance that was quite remarkable given how hard she pulled in the early stages and in all truth, she had no right to finish that close to the principles after exerting that much energy early on.

It's no surprise to her fitted with the first-time hood here and if that application of headgear helps her settle, I'd expect her to take this en-route to bigger and better things.

Selection: Silver Lady – General 11/4

Later on the card, Candleford looks decent value to land the Listed Dubai Godolphin Stakes at 5.05. William Haggas' charge proved no match for the Arc-bound Bay Bridge last time but there was certainly no shame in that effort as he posted a decent time in the process.

He showed a willing attitude to land a Listed contest at Windsor previously and lost nothing in defeat when runner-up to a genuine Group 1 performer last-time-out.

Both trip and ground look ideal for the William Haggas-trained five-year-old, who also has no issues with this course and distance. The drop back to Listed level can only be seen as a positive and at a general price of 7/2, he looks like good value to lower the colours of New London this afternoon.

Selection: Candleford – General 7/2

We head to Dundalk for our final selection and it's interesting the Simon and Ed Crisford-trained Sea The Casper makes the journey across the sea for the Listed Dubai Diomond Stakes at 6.45.

It's easy to forgive him for two recent poor outings on turf and he now revisits a surface that allowed him to produce a clear career-best at Lingfield back in June.

There were only six runners at the Surrey venue in June, but despite that the gallop was strong and after travelling kindly throughout, he showed a smart turn of foot to swiftly put the race to bed with two furlongs to go.

His sole defeat on an artificial surface came when runner-up to the smart course specialist Belloccio at Kempton and it's easy to see him bouncing back to his best returning to this surface.

Selection: Sea The Casper – General 4/1
