Today's horse racing tips

With Plumpton failing their morning inspection, there will be no National Hunt racing in Britain or Ireland on Tuesday.

However, Newcastle, Southwell, and Dundalk provide some competitive all-weather action to get stuck into.

Billy Loughnane wasted no time in getting back in the winners' enclosure after a short spell in Australia when he successfully steered Star Winning to a comfortable victory at Lingfield yesterday.

The youngster looks to have a huge season ahead of him and will be looking to take in some momentum from the all-weather. He has a decent book of rides up at Newcastle this afternoon, with Above perhaps the most appealing at the prices in the £30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap at 4.45.

Interestingly enough, Robert Cowell's sprinter has yet to endure a visit to Gosforth Park, but there's little reason to believe he won't handle the track with numerous pieces of form on other tapeta surfaces.

The Robert Cowell-trained eight-year-old did well to tack across from a wide draw at Kempton six days ago, but unsurprisingly, his petrol ran out late on and he was collared by one who was positioned more towards midfield. He did well to tough it out to claim the runner-up spot that day and dropping back to five furlongs at Newcastle ought to be right up his street.

That performance came following a solid staying-on third-place finish over five furlongs at Southwell in December and assuming he gets away well from stall one, he should have every chance of getting back to winning ways off a current rating of 72.

WIN – Above

Odds – 4/1

Earlier on the card, Jujubella looks to have every chance of following up her recent course success in the opening Gamble Responsibly At BetUK 'Hands And Heels' Apprentice Handicap (3.38).

The four-year-old posted three creditable efforts over a mile after moving to Lucinda Russell in October, shaping as though she was in need of further on all three occasions. She got her reward when duly upped to a mile and a quarter at Newcastle twelve days ago, staying on strongly to hit the line hard and deny the reopposing Come On John by four and a half lengths.

James Owen's Come On John is now 8lb better off at the weights when factoring in jockey's claims, but he's hardly a regular to the winners' enclosure and will likely need more in the first-time visor.

In contrast, Jujubella should have bundles more to offer now she stretches out a further two and a half furlonhgs and I wouldn't be at all surprised if she were able to run up a sequence in similar middle-distance handicaps in the near future.

WIN – Jujubella

Odds - Evens
