The Woodward Gr 2 only had four runners with Tapit Trice winning from short-priced favourite Skippylongstocking and Crupi third so not much to write home about here as those three are all pretty close in ability.
The Joe Hirsch Turf Classic had 5 runners and the Chilean-bred Mufasa has got an entry into the Breeders' Cup although trainer Correas hasn't quite decided in which race. Scotland was 4 ½ lengths away in second.
And the Pilgrim 1700m turf was no problem for Zulu Kingdom who defeated Noble Confessor 7/1 and Early Adapter 5/1 in an 8 horse field.
At Santa Anita the John Henry Turf Championship saw Cabo Spirit lead the whole way and finish well to get the victory over There Goes Harvard in a thrilling finish with the Chilean-bred Master Piece third just ahead of Dicey Mo Chara.
The Eddie D saw First Piece get the win over Air Force Red in a head-bobber with King of Gosford and Big Invasion close behind.
The City of Hope saw Johannes, an odds-on favourite, do the right thing winning from
Almendares 7/1 and Conclude.
And the big one the California Crown finished up with just six runners but finished up with a great result for Wathnan Racing who got their first US Gr 1 when Subsanador under a vintage Mike Smith ride defeated the short-priced favourite National Treasure and Newgate ran third.
