Crystal Capella gets her G2

3 minute read

And in winning the Princess of Wales at Newmarket yesterday looked like a G1 horse.

Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore have both had great faith in this mare, and yesterday she repaid that

faith with an 8 lengths win over Redwood, with Buthelezi, who led for much of the race, staying on for

third.

There was a heavy shower yesterday which meant jockeys seemed to be undecided as to where to go

with some going for the middle of the track and others the far rail.

The Bahrain Trophy went to Masked Marvel, but had runner-up and co-favourite Census been able to run

straight it might have gone the other way - Rya Moore had to put in a fee-earning ride to get Census to go

straight and then to kick again. Zain Al Boldan put in a much better run under Aussie jockey Hugh

Bowman to finish third.

The July Stakes saw a great run by our pick Frederick Engels - this horse is maturing by the minute and

settled just off the pace to await a gap between runners and come through to win by a length from Roman

Soldier with Bannock third.
