A 14/1 winner in the Cherry Hinton and a 16/1 winner in the Falmouth Stakes were the major news items of the day.
The Cherry Hinton went to Godolphin's Gamalati from the Al Zarooni stable with Frankie Dettori, back from
a "holiday" aboard. She produced a great turn of fit to get home ahead of Russellania with favouriteShumoos third. Inetrobil was fourth. No excuses really for the beaten brigade - the winner was too good
on the day.And the unheralded Timepiece gave Henry Cecil his first Falmouth Stakes when she eased ahead of
Sahpresa to win by 1 ¼ lengths with a good run from First City third. River Jetez was too far back andalthough she finished well she had too much to do and was fifth.
