Hayley and Margot do it at York

Hayley Turner got her second G1 on the 20/1 shot Margot Did in the Nunthorpe at York on Friday.

And it was a peach of a ride as well as Turner chose the near side which proved to be the better part of

the track, with runner up Hamish McGonagal 28/1 and Prohibit 12/1 all on that part of the track.

Green Destiny endorsed his win in the John Smith's Cup with a win in the Strensel as he showed a great

attitude in running down race leader Tazahum and favourite Dux Scholar 2 1/4 lengths back of these in

third spot.

Earlier Caspar Netscher showed a very neat set of hooves to score by 2 1/2 lengths in the Gimcrack and

then a tight bunch of runners with the placings going to Burwaaz, Lillbourne Lad and then Justineo.

Saturday's highlight is the stayers Lonsdale Cup over 3200m, the Melbourne Cup trip. Opinion Poll won

this last year and more recently won the Goodwood Cup, with Harris Tweed ticking all the boxes of late

and the steadfast Duncan, winner of the Yorkshire Cup here in May at 4/1. There is also that great

Heritage Handicap the Ebor with 20 runners over the 2800m course. The winner may not be amongst the

shortest priced horses.
