Favourites feature at Newbury

3 minute read

With Fallon riding the double in two of the three main races on the card at Newbury, favourites came to the fore in all three.

Such was not the case at Ayr where the winner, Our Jonathan, started at 11/1. The favourite at the off

was Eton Rifles who ran second, and third home Son of the Cat was 16/1 and 4th Colonel Mak 16/1. We

are going shopping for a new sharp pin since our selections were not amongst the top 6.

At Newbury Fallon rode Green Destiny to victory in the Arc Trial with Al Kazeem second and Sea of

Heartbreak a surprise third at 11/1. Sri Putra was 5th and Dangerous Midge's run did not look good

enough to warrant a trip to Melbourne.

The Mill Reef saw the talented Caspar Netscher continue to impress, finishing half a length in front of

Redact with Saigon a neck away in third. Otto the Great wasn't having blown the start and ran last.

The Dubai World Trophy saw fav Deacon Blues home by a length from Masamah at 14/1 with our Dinkum

Diamonds 3/4 length back in third - he's by Aussie Rules in case anyone is wondering about the name. And you would certainly pay his feed bill - he has been in the first 3 in all his starts in 2011.
