It turned into quite an extraordinary race which started off with hot favourite Pimpernel blowing the start and then racing rather ungenerously.
Mary Fildes went into the lead as they settled and charged away at one stage establishing a 12 length margin between her and Moon Spun who was endeavouring to keep in touch, but by the final 100m Mary Fildes was a very tired horse and went wide enabling several horses to charge at the gap but it was Falls of Lora with Mikael Barzalona riding who pushed through on the rail to win. Mary Fildes kept second, Alsindi third and Moon Spun fourth in what turned out to be a very tight finish.
The Classic at least gave Frankie Dettori a winner as he was riding Burano, 16/1, for Brian Meehan and just got the photo from Entifaadah with Noor Zabeel third. Not much luck for Cash Luck who was 6th just behind Matalusan.
