Top race double for Ng on National Day

3 minute read

Trainer Pierre Ng won both the G3 National Day Cup and the Cl 2 Beijing Handicap at Sha Tin on Tuesday.

There was a bit of a shambles at the start of the National Dau Cup when Zac Purton was not happy with his mount Stoltz's action so he was looked over by the vets and the saddle came off and he was out.  However after that there were no significant findings so it remains a mistery.

For the actual race Beauty Waves with Badel on board ran an excellent race and managed to hold off Magic Control who finished ½ a length away in second.  Whizz Kid did well and finished third ahead of Call My Glorious.

Hugh Bowman passed his "vet's test" and was able to ride and had a couple of winners earlier but Invincible Sage was not one of them.

The Beijing Handicap went to Dromberg Ban ner on 21.0 for Ng and Atzeni with Patch of Theta second and favourite Sunlight Power third.  Copartner Prance was a disappointment with Purton stating after the race that the horse was too keen in the early stages.

There was a good crowd and a healthy turnover to mark the special day.
