Sunday at Chantilly

And this means the Jockey Club G1 and four other Group races.

JUNKO was the winner of a Grand Prix de Chantilly. Picture: The Hong Kong Jockey Club

The first of these was the Gros-Chêne where Ponntos started favourite and obliged with a good win over Mgheera 12/1 and Prodero 22/1 with the soft ground affecting some of the more fancied runners.

The Grand Prix de Chantilly went to Fabre's Junko who gained redemption after a flop in Dubai.  The trainer thinks that there wasn't really enough time between Hong Kong and Dubai for him but he's now fancied for some more races in future.  Stablemate Godolphin's Marquisat was second and Dubai Honour third.

The Jockey Club was won by Look de Vega 5/1 for the Lerners and Ronan Thomas with another horse with "Look" in the name – First Look 24/1– in second.  Sosie 7/1 was third and raider Ghostwriter fourth.  Diego Velzquez was never really in it – he may not have liked the going which was very soft.

The G3 Royaumont went to favourite Aventure with Vigatata second and Mosaique third so no big surprises there.  The Sandringham went to Sparling Plenty who had started favourite on 2/1 with Cetera second and Robaltagaia third.
