Ka Ying Rising is really a G1 horse and showed this by breaking the track record and possibly could have lowered it even further if Purton had pushed him but with the win safely in the bag Purton eased him up over the last 100m.
The John Size pair of Howdeepisyourlove 36.0 and Helios Express 14.0 had their own battle for the minor placings and finished in that order, 3 ¼ lengths behind the winner.
California Spangle encountered traffic problems early and his jockey thought he would have been happier if he could have been close to the lead.
In the Mile Voyage Bubble with the flying J Mac on board flew home to win by ¾ length from Chancheng Glory on 11.0 and favourite Galaxy Patch didn't get the best of runs and was third.
J Mac was back with a vengeance on Romantic Warrior who easily won the Cup over the 2000m – again this is a Group 1 horse. Second home was Ka Ying Generation on 33.0 but his jockey Andrea Atzeni was suspended afterwards for careless riding as he caused several horses to be affected when he crossed while unclear of the next horse and the third place therefore went to Nimble Nimbus on 68.0.
Romantic Warrior is to be vaccinated on Monday in view of his possible trip to the Saudi Cup in February.
