White Liar as honest as they come

No stranger to the quick back-up, White Liar will enter Saturday’s AirConditioning Canberra Benchmark 55 Handicap (1200m), six days after a strong second-placing at Cowra.

The Rob Potter-trained mare has produced quality performances under similar circumstances, having finished a close second after a three-day back-up in September 2022 and third after a seven day backup last preparation in June 2023.

Trainer Rob Potter holds no reservations about White Liar's chances this Saturday at Thoroughbred Park.

"She's pulled up enormous after her last run." Potter said. "It was a massive run and she was taken on the whole way but she's just such a fit horse."

"She's run really well on the quick back-up before so our plan was to run her here on her home track which she loves, if she drew well and she drew perfectly."

White Liar has drawn barrier 4 on Saturday and will partner with in-form apprentice Coriah Keatings.

"She looks to map perfectly here." Potter said. "The barrier is a massive asset, she doesn't have to lead but she'll be in the first three or four and while she's up in weight, Coriah brings a handy claim (2kg)."

"Coriah is riding so well at the moment. She is an apprentice who is going places."

Earlier in the day, the TAB Federal (1000m) will feature a small but strong field with Gratz Vella's consistent gelding Major Time looking to break through for another victory this preparation after three placings in a row.

The open handicap contest also features last start TAB Highway runner up Feel The Knight from the Anthony Warren yard.

Saturday's race meeting in Canberra is a 7-race program with the first due at 3:36pm.
