WARWICK FARM - tips by Chris Scholtz

SR 4: (7) SOUL - The transfer to his home track Warwick Farm should work well for this talented sprinter after his first-up performance at Rosehill when he was very much in need of a race after an extended break of almost 10 months. He resumed without the benefit of a public trial and with that race behind him the expectation is he can show a return to the excellent form he displayed in Melbourne last spring when he was matching it with some classy Group One performers e.g. Star Witness, Set For Fame, Toorak Toff etc. The obvious pace in this race may set it up for this talented sprinter to get home over the top of the speedsters.

SR 5: (4) STREAMA - This second leg of the Princess Series brings together the best Sydney fillies and with little between them on form and ratings it may prove a case of the one finding the most from their recent first-up performances. The Silver Shadow was a blanket finish and the result may well have been different if this Guy Walter-trained filly had not had the disadvantage of having to race on the inside of her rivals from her rails barrier on a severely biased heavy track. To date she has done all her racing up to 1200m but gives every indication that she will excel at 1400m and she in the right hands to take the next step in a highly promising career.

SR 8: (8) THANKGODYOU'REHERE - The Tramway looks to be an ideal second up assignment for the honest gelding after his latest effort over 1200m at this course when he was just warming up at the end of 1200m behind Skytrain on 20 August. That was his first start off a two months break after his Brisbane carnival efforts and there is no doubt he will be more comfortable over the extra 200m, coming in nicely at the weights with 1.5kg drop from his last start and he does meet Sincero 5kg better from when they met in the Stradbroke. He's got a fitness edge and envisage that his barrier will work well for him against others coming from difficult gates.

ONES TO AVOID

SR 4: (1) DECISION TIME - Boasts a great record and recent trial win points to him being ready to perform but he will need to be firing at his best to beat some sharp sprinters over this short trip under 58kg.

Lights Of Heaven is just waiting to crack into open grade

FLEMINGTON - tips by Wayne Bristow

MR 4: (1) SEPOY - For the sake of a tip he is just too good. Ratings has him way too good for these and only the worst of luck brings him undone here. Nothing more needs to be said.

MR 6: (16) LIGHTS OF HEAVEN - Her performance in the Lawrence was that of a future WFA winner even if that race was hardly of strong WFA standard. She could easily have challenged Whobegotyou, goes just off the pace in running and how can you go beyond Moody/Nolen in any race in Melbourne. The mile has to be better again and she has a fitness on the majority of these.

MR 8: (4) DECEMBER DRAW - Two runs here were absolutely brilliant given the expectations of those races. He has a gate to race forward again, control the race and extend when needed. This is far more acceptable than the Moonee Valley race and yet he was off the map there. Punters can get their money back in this.

ONES TO AVOID

MR 7: (12) BEL SPRINTER - Horse has been flying so this is risky however there are good reasons. He has been carrying the limit in most runs this prep and now steps up to Group Three company. He also goes back to the straight which was acknowledged as causing a fairly unimpressive win over 1100m. Also, this field contains many straight track winners or good performers and therefore it only needs him to be just off his game.

EAGLE FARM - tips by Wayne Bristow

BR 1: (2) ROTHERA - With the prospect of some give in the ground and a good first up record on that surface, this bloke looks the best horse in this race under those circumstances. The claim takes away any advantage the light weights had and his best rating has him the one to beat. He trialled as he always does and won't have to come around a big field either.

BR 3: (2) EASTLINE - Finds an even sort of Class 6 but over a distance which is more suitable to his style. Hasn't started many times at Eagle Farm but will handle the surface and is fit now. Drops in the weights and has put two good rating performances back to back. Will run you a race yet again.

ONES TO AVOID

BR 5: (2) TRUMP - Scored first up and for that reason alone will be right in the eye of the punters. But he meets several other 3yos in good form and has to give all of them weight. His second up record is not that good and is worth a risk.

MORPHETTVILLE - tips by Wayne Bristow

AR 1: (5) ENVIOUS - Forgetting his eventual position in the Blue Diamond, he was badly interfered with there. Again he wasn't endeared with the best of fortune in the Preview, both being behind Sepoy which of course is the benchmark in a top 3yo season. Heading to Adelaide would seem a smart move in avoiding better quality races during the Spring to gain him some confidence.

AR 2: (2) MARKED DANGER - Stable are absolutely flying in general, but specifically with the jumpers. This 4yo has become very solid since taking to hurdling and even race nicely on the flat at Sandown when well backed. Seems well weighted in an event like this one.

ONES TO AVOID

AR 8: (2) STARALAN - I bet a horse with picket fence form comes up short the tote. Even if it's in lower grade races he has three wins in a row. But there were hardly strong events and there are several in form gallopers ahead of him here. Struggling to be betting on him.
