BLACKBOOKERS & TRIALS

Our Blackbook service provides punters with a great way to keep tabs on horses to follow. Remember you can always click on a horse from the Racing And Sports Database to blackbook it or go straight to our Blackbook section and maintain your stable runners there.

We’ve identified a few here from the last week which we think can make us some money in the near future.

Blackbookers

Salon Soldier

Promising German import who was successful in running up to his European form when notching up an impressive first up victory at Randwick. In what was his first attempt short of ten furlongs he displayed a sharp turn of foot when coming from the tail of the field and does appear well on track for some better staying races down the track. With form in the book behind Novellist albeit beaten 5.1L, Salon Soldier was originally set to be aimed at races like the Caulfield Cup and Cox Plate before suffering a minor setback. Kris Lees has indicated he will now look for another race over the Melbourne Spring Carnival and he is worth sticking with.

Lion Of Belfort is progressing very quickly through the grades Picture: Racing and Sports
Lion Of Belfort

Talented colt who has shown stark improvement in his maiden preparation having notched up his third straight win on Saturday. Since breaking through for his maiden win at Geelong the son of Statue Of Liberty has impressively improved 22 pounds and is clearly a horse on an upward spiral. While he will have to run to a new career peak again to trouble Zoustar in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, he is clearly a galloper heading in the right direction and is one worth following in the future.

Triallers

Lundi - Tuesday 15 October @ Newcastle

Well bred filly who showed good ability in her sole trial to date when scoring easily at Newcastle on Tuesday. After jumping away well she never appeared to get out of second gear and while unable to record one of the quicker times of the morning she appeared to have plenty up her sleeve. Out of the Group 3 placed mare Lavishly, Lundi is a half-sister to Leicester Square and appears to be a nice filly moving forward. Expect her to be right around the mark wherever the Paul Messara team elects to go with her on debut.

Eligible Blackbookers Racing This Weekend

Some of the recent runners that have been Blackbooked by us are engaged this weekend and we think should be included in your punting thoughts.

Caulfield Race 2 - 1 Paximadia

Another from the Snowden camp who are running through brick walls at the moment. He led and dictated to suit at Flemington and maybe that happens once more. Better drawn this time, getting Kerrin back on is hardly a drop back in his current rich vein of form.

Caulfield Race 3 - 4 Star Fashion

It is probably put up or shut up time for Star Fashion to say she is the real deal for the Oaks. Only nosed out in the Manifold, that was not the strongest edition of that race. Out of a top mare in Elegant Fashion, she is sure bred to run an Oaks trip by Street Cry and today will tell the tale.

Caulfield Race 10 - 12 Hawkspur

This is the race the Queensland Derby winner has been set for. He looks a true 2400m horse and it is the reason we’ve been blackbooking him all along. 4yos have a tremendous record in the Caulfield Cup and his form profiles as superbly as one could. He’s ready to fire now, the stable could barely be going better and Cassidy would be so determined to win G1 No 100.

Randwick Race 5 - 4 Ichihara (off her trial)

After having a mid-prep trial at Wyong, the Allan Denham mare looks set to find a race which sets up perfectly for her. She loves to chase more so than lead and it appears Welkom Gold might just do the job for her. She is a winner over this course and distance 13 months back and should go close.

Randwick Race 8 - 3 She's Clean

How could you not love the way She’s Clean is going. Already a dual Listed race winner, she was only 3L back of stable mate Red Tracer in the Tatts Tiara. That seems like it is the long term plan but her resuming run was a cracker as well. She’s got to be hard to hold out.

Randwick Race 8 - 9 Gamba

Guy Walter loves to get black type with his mares and trains and places them to perfection. She is obviously racing well having won first up at Canterbury and while this is a step up, she can sit behind the leaders in this and use the inside barrier to advantage.

Gosford (Sunday) Race 6 - 9 Runway Star

Well bred filly from the Gerald Ryan stable who proved ultra impressive when taking out her trial on 1 October. Given time to progress the daughter of Northern Meteor appears to have made good improvement from her last trial back in March when streaking away from her rivals with considerable ease. Recording one of the quickest times of the morning she appears well above average and will take plenty of beating where ever she lines up on debut.
