Speed Map Special

G2 Crystal Mile - 1600m Moonee Valley

Racing And Sports have identified the Crystal Mile as the race of the weekend where the settling positions hold a big sway in the way the race may end up.

Our maps are interactive and so use the technology available to create your own speed map if you have a differing view. Much like racing everywhere, it is all a matter of opinion and that is what makes the sport great.

Click the link back to the race in our Form Guides and you can create your own Speed Maps located on the left hand side of the page.

Explanation:

This is at WFA but still think there should be quite good speed. Malavio was right up there in speedier races like the Show County and Tramway so can lead these and expecting Transporter to show more toe now he’s further into the prep as long as he doesn’t miss the kick. Rain Drum can get the same type of spot in Sydney which garnered him success while Second Effort was up there last week too. Most of the others like to take a sit.

Sacred Falls winning the Doncaster Picture: Racing and Sports
Speed Map Special:- (9) Sacred Falls

Many a horse that was thought of as a Cox Plate runner and went elsewhere has run well on Cox Plate day. Sacred Falls fits that profile and the Doncaster winner seems ready to fire here. A little bit of give in the track suits him perfectly and it was fourth up at the mile when he won the G1. Last year Chris Waller had another former Doncaster winner beaten in this but old Rangi’s biggest win was a few years ago. Sacred Falls has run well each time this campaign without winning but can peak as he has the speed to run them down settling back. Remember he was last into the straight in the Doncaster.

The danger could be Blackie who adores MV. He is in career best form winning easily here on Moir Stakes night then running home so well in the Toorak. He looks to get the same run in the race that he got at that night card, midfield then peeling and surging late.
