Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Canterbury Race 4 - 2 Mr Manhattan

Rising sprinter is going for three straight and doubt his winning run is over just yet as this race sets up well for him with 1kg less than he carried in his last start win over 1000m at Randwick.

He should settle with the sit on the leaders from his inside gate and will take beating if he produce the same turn of foot that has been a feature of his two wins since resuming.

Canterbury Race 8 - 4 Quick Strike

Like his preparation coming into this at his fourth start since resuming and backing up from his close second over 1800m at Rosehill last Saturday that should have ready to go on with it.

He’s a typical slow maturing son of High Chaparral who was given a shot at the Queensland Derby last season, indicating the opinion held of him by the Waller stable. Has raced well at Canterbury and capable in soft ground.

Canterbury Race 9 - 2 Better Not Blue

Loves soft ground and is well placed to add to a good record after resuming with late closing second over 1200m at Randwick in stronger company.

A month between runs suits his pattern and apprentice Jess Taylor has built a strong association with him. Her 3kg claim an obvious benefit in this grade.
