Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Rosehill Race 1 - 5 To Be Sure
Confident Bjorn Baker has a good filly on his hands, having put this one away after her impressive debut win at Canterbury four months ago with the autumn in mind.
Certainly looked the part beating subsequent winners Magic Alibi and Perignon in a recent trial win and if she’s as good as the stable believes should be winning this on the limit weight with a 6kg advantage over her main rival Redzel.
Rosehill Race 3 - 4 Beau Tirage
Top Canberra trainer Keith Dryden is showing plenty of confidence bringing this promising sprinter straight to town for a first-up tilt at this Highway Plate.
Looked better than country class winning three of his first six starts and his two city placings against some quality types when last in work rate highly for this grade. The horse to beat with the advantage of a 3kg claim for talented apprentice Jamie Innes.
Terrific mare when fresh on her home track and has been trialling as well as ever.
The stats really say it all as she has won seven times when first-up, she’s won nine races at Rosehill including both her starts over the 1300m trip and Hugh Bowman has been her partner in six of her 16 career wins including this race last year. Perfect race for her return.
