Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Randwick Race 5 - 5 Omei Sword
Made a big impression in her only three starts last season as a quality filly with the best to come from her as a 3YO.
She has done more than enough in three easy trials to indicate she is ready to produce a big first-up sprint and with the abundant early speed in this field expect to see her to unleash a big finish from off the pace. Could be Sydney’s best spring filly.
Trial efforts point to this talented performer coming back from a long break in the right form to match this good sprint field.
He has been a standout in the two trials that have prepared him for his return, winning under throttle hold at Warwick Farm and then never let go when an impressive third in a very strong heat at Randwick.
His consistent record speaks for itself and it would be even better if he hadn’t been forced to spend so much time on the sidelines.
Randwick Race 8 - 6 Dixie Blossoms
Might lack the experience of some her rivals in this field but the talent she has displayed in just five starts indicates that she has the potential to go a lot further than most of them.
She is yet another trial star, her two eye-catching hitouts at Randwick in the last month underlining her talent and trainer Ron Quinton’s intention to have her ready to win first-up, a knack he excels at with his fillies and mares.
