Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Randwick Race 4 - 11 Pumpkin Pie

Promising filly by sire of the moment Star Witness hits the city for the first time after two impressive country wins.

Jumped a class from her maiden win over 1000m at Goulburn on debut to race away with a C2 over 1200m at Nowra in fast time. Sweet draw has her well placed to extend her sequence.

Randwick Race 5 - 4 Invinzabeel

Came off two strong trials for an excellent first-up win over 1400m at Rosehill on September 10 in what has been a strong form race.

Gives the impression he has come back a much improved horse this season and while he has gone 35 days since that first-up win it should be no concern in view of his excellent fresh form and liking for Randwick where he has missed a place only once in five starts.

Randwick Race 7 - 7 Hair Trigger

Tabbed this gelding as a potential Group winner when he made an eye catching debut at Kembla Grange in April. He then won his maiden at Wyong and has since registered two luckless city placings eight weeks apart at Canterbury and Randwick against some quality opposition.

He was a sharp trial winner before finishing best for close third in the Listed Heritage Stakes (1100m) at Randwick on September 17 points to him being hard to hold out this time over the extra ground.
