Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Canterbury Race 5 - 6 Snoopy

Hawkes stable has this sprinter well placed to bounce off a six weeks freshen up after going through the motions to win a Rosehill trial on October 25.

His early spring form was excellent and included a second over 1200m in this class at Rosehill before he took on quality Group company in the G2 Theo Marks Stakes and G3 Cameron Handicap and more than held his own in strong form races.

First look at Canterbury but he’s three from four when fresh up.

Canterbury Race 6 - 5 Sir Plush

Locks horns for a third time with Reincarnate after they have clashed twice in the last five weeks.

He took the honours first-up with an impressive win over 1100m at Rosehill on September 28 when he ran away from Reincarnate at the finish then tables were turned when he couldn’t quite run his rival down over 1200m at Randwick when the winner got all the favours in front.

The weights favour Sir Plush this time as he meets Reincarnate 2kg better and that should be enough to see him reverse the last start result.

Canterbury Race 7 - 5 God's In Him

A lot more was expected of him last time at Randwick after an impressive trial but he never got into the race and was the subject of an inquiry.

He has since rebounded with another excellent trial win at Rosehill that points to him turning his form around under these suitable conditions.

He’s been placed in a strong G2 Shannon Stakes over 1500m and that’s good enough for this company with the obvious leader Religify suspect over this trip.
