Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts

R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.

SELECTIONS

Warwick Farm Race 1 - 5 Awesome Pluck

Comes from a smart country stable with a big reputation after a classy debut win over 1000m at Taree last month when never off the bit to score by 5.5 lengths after sitting four wide under a grip for the trip.

Has since come to Warwick Farm to record a super trial win over 1000m on June 30 where he again coasted in second gear to win in the style of an above average youngster.

He’s meeting a handy field for this time of the year but confident he has the talent to prove he is above average.

Warwick Farm Race 2 - 4 Philosophy

Godolphin has selected this race for the lightly-raced dual acceptor and she may be the one to get James Cummings off to a flier on his first day in charge.

She certainly has the upside to go on from her first-up win over 1200m at Canterbury when she surged late after a difficult run that saw her forced deep on the point of the turn.

She’s a winner over 1300m on her home course (beating a subsequent Group winner) and her scope for improvement should see her relish the step up to 1400m.

Warwick Farm Race 4 - 1 Cosmic Engine

Progressive 3YO has found his form since being gelded with two impressive wins, resuming over 1200m at Newcastle before coming to this track to score with ease over this distance under 61kg on June 28.

Tsaritsa is one to follow Picture: Racing and Sports

Really trucked into the race with style last time from midfield and expecting a similar performance from a kind draw with Bowman on board again.
