Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Gets to 2400m third up on his favoured soft ground after he was beaten a half length over 2000m at this course on June 16 under 58.5kg.
His last two wins have been at 2400m on soft tracks and well placed to add to that record under these favourable conditions as he is clearly the one in this field with the most scope for improvement.
Rosehill Race 7 - 6 Mister Sea Wolf
Happy to play with this Irish import - a six-time winner in the UK and Ireland - at attractive double figure odds.
He is yet to win in Australia but has posted three Group and Listed placings in his seven local starts and like the fact he has had a four weeks freshen since his last start when he right of luck at this course on June 2 when fifth over 1400m carrying 59kg.
Boasts excellent form on soft tracks and appeals as a worthy value play with his handy drop in weight.
Hard to miss his eye-catching first-up fourth over this course and distance on June 16 when he ran home hard from a wide gate in the fastest last 600m of the day.
He then went back to the trials last Monday to win a 910m heat at Rosehill, a sure sign that he has taken plenty of improvement from his first-up effort. Always keen to support horses that race within days of strong winning trials.
