Melbourne Cup-winning trainer Darren Weir will be out to add another Group 1 to a memorable week with two runners in Saturday’s Emirates Stakes.
Weir will saddle up topweight Lucky Hussler along with the mare May’s Dream in a full field of 16 runners for the $1million handicap over 1600 metres.
Lucky Hussler fared well at the barrier draw coming with gate three but May’s Dream will jump from the outside stall.
The winning trainer of the other big spring cup, Caulfield Cup victor Murray Baker, is also represented with Turn Me Loose from gate 11 with Kerrin McEvoy replacing the suspended Opie Bosson.
The Emirates field is boosted with two international runners, Cox Plate failure Arod for Peter Chapple-Hyam and luckless Mackinnon Stakes fourth-placegetter Magic Artist for Andreas Wohler.
Another of the week’s Group 1 winners, Myer Stakes victor Politeness, drew gate eight for Robert Smerdon and Craig Newitt while another Derby Day winner, Disposition is also line to back up from gate nine.
Chris Waller is the only other trainer with dual runners with Moriarty in one and Amovatio in seven.
