Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Eagle Farm, Ascot, Murray Bridge and Pakenham.

RANDWICK: RACE 10 @ 5:55 PM

YORKSHIRE (13) Snitzel gelding who came a long way in his first prep winning three of his four races. Up in trip and grade when leading throughout for a gritty victory over 1400m at Warwick Farm on August 21. Given the two searching trials and yet to race on anything better than a soft (5). Has a high cruising speed and expected to go close. ACCREDITED (9) clearly strengthened over the break and this should be the prep where he reaches greater heights. Gave them a galloping lesson when a smart 3 len winner over 1200m at Warwick Farm on December 4. Can get in with cover early and win again. FLYING DESTINY (3) smart return when he loomed strongly in the soft (7) going for a close-up second over 1100m at Rosehill behind EYE OF THE STORM on November 30. Fitter now and the claim helps again. Genuine player. ROMEO'S CHOICE (11) came out fast in the heavy going before surging clear for a sharp 3.5 len win over 1250m at Canterbury on November 29. Can add value the the exotics.
SELECTIONS: Yorkshire to win.

EAGLE FARM: RACE 2 @ 1:48 PM

MISS JOELENE (8) is a Group 1 QLD Oaks placegetter who has hit the frame in all three starts this preparation and looks to have come back in fine fashion. Will appreciate the step-up to the 1820m here and has a bit of class on this field. Gets Maloney on and should be right there at the business end. ZAPHOD (3) is an imported galloper who has shown ability in all four local outings and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside marble. Strips fitter second-up and should play a role in the finish. MOSZUR (9) has been thereabouts in all three starts this campaign and gets in well at the weights with the claim. In the mix. JEALOUS (7) rounds out the selections.
SELECTIONS: Miss Joelene to return to the winners' stall.

ASCOT: RACE 2 @ 8:37 PM

NORTHERN DIAMOND (14) just missed last time out at Pinjarra when beaten in a photo finish. The form out of the race has been strong and she has her hoof on the till. Maps to get her chance and can shed the maiden tag this time. GASPARDO (6) is another who was beaten narrowly last start, just missing out at Albany when favourite. He'll find this tougher, but he looks to have good class about him and the rise in trip may suit. Possesses some class and should be right in the finish. TACTICS (5) gets the blinkers back on today following a disappointing run over this trip at Belmont most recently. His first two efforts this time in were much better and getting the blinkers back on today can see him turn his form around. ROMANTIC RULER (1) has been very close in all 3 runs this time in work and won't be far away. WON FOR THE GIRLS (8) is building nicely this campaign and now out to this trip can see him in the finish.
SELECTIONS: Northern Diamond gets the nod.

MURRAY BRIDGE: RACE 6 @ 3:27 PM

SCHRODER'S MISTAKE (4) took care of a small field with ease last start when leading go-to-woah. Is drawn to advantage and is sure to prove tough to reel in. MORRIS MINOR (5) dug deep to arrive just in time to get the verdict last time out. Has more to offer fourth-up but will just need a touch of luck from the draw. Expect to see him launching late. STRATUM PRIDE (11) came desperately close to landing the ultimate knockout blow first-up when sent out long odds. Deserves a lot more respect on the quick back-up over a more suitable trip. ANGELIC APPEAL (10) lacks tactical speed but has a strong turn of foot on her day. Likes the track and trip and is certainly one to consider. WALK LIKE AN ANGEL (9) is nearing her peak now and is another one to watch for late.
SELECTIONS: Schroder's Mistake to win again.

PAKENHAM: RACE 8 @ 4:20 PM

Good field for the inaugural Supernova where NADAL (6) is looking to make it 2/2 in the series having been ultra impressive winning the Meteorite at Cranbourne last time out, charging home from back in the field on a fast track to score dominantly. He'll have no issue with 1400m although he doesn't want to give some smart types too big a head start. HERE TO SHOCK (3) was okay in the Big Dance last time over 1600m but back to 1400m looks suitable and his form prior reads very well. WELWAL (7) won the Heffernan fresh for the new camp and can go on with it. ARKANSAW KID (1) has claims again.
SELECTIONS: Nadal to win.
