Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Gold Coast, Caulfield, Morphettville, Echuca, Darwin and Belmont.

RANDWICK: RACE 5 @ 2:10 PM

Multiple Group 1 placegetter CEOLWULF (11) can keep his winning momentum going third up after scoring a tenacious win with the 60kg over 1500m at Rosehill on August 31. Kept up to the mark with a 1200m trial win and expected to prove hard to stop again on the limit weight. GOLDEN PATH (12) chasing his fourth straight win and the stable has found the key to him with spacing his runs. Undefeated at this track and trip and since fitted with a 1200m trial. Slight niggle is the firm going. Group 3 winner ELIYASS (6) has impressed at both Australian runs and is undefeated over the 2000m. Pulled out plenty late when resuming to get up for a narrow win over 2000m in the G3 Premier's Cup at this track on August 24. Kept up to the mark with a 1200m trial win and will prove hard to hold out. VRC Oaks winner ZARDOZI (18) looked a little dour late when sixth over 1600m here in the G2 Chelmsford on September 7. Ready for this trip now and a bit of juice out of the ground would be a bonus.
SELECTIONS: Ceolwulf to win.

GOLD COAST: RACE 3 @ 1:08 PM

I AM THE EMPIRE (7) has been plying his trade in metropolitan races in the southern states and should find this assignment more to his liking. Has two wins and two seconds from seven attempts at the trip and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside alley. Rates the testing material. THESECONDATPORTSEA (9) has been thereabouts in recent efforts and looks ready for the step-up to the 2200m here. Solid top-three candidate on best form. COUP DE TONNERRE (4) is a three-time winner over this distance range and will be rock-hard fit for this. Cannot be ignored. BEDFORD SQUARE (8) rounds out the selections.
SELECTIONS: I Am The Empire to win.

CAULFIELD: RACE 6 @ 3:00 PM

Keen on COMMEMORATIVE (11) here. She was given a patient ride first up in the G3 Toy Show at Randwick and ran on strongly to get within a long neck of Kimochi. She comes back to a benchmark race, J Kah rides and the wide draw should suit the big filly. REY MAGNERIO (12) resumes. He was in great form last time in, a lot of it at Caulfield. His win over Midtown Boss at this track and trip was strong. CHINNY BOOM (6) is having her first run for Moody & Coleman. She's got a great strike rate and did win by 3.5 lengths at Eagle Farm just two starts ago. JUNGLE JIM (10) is hard to catch on his day and can give a sight. IT'SOURTIME (2) is consistent.
SELECTIONS: Backing Commemorative.

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS: RACE 6 @ 3:17 PM

AVIATRESS (7) is yet to strike through this campaign but has come very close against quality opposition. Expect her to be peaking now with Toeroek taking back over from a favourable draw. SIXTEEN REASONS (13) is currently her own worst enemy as she continues to miss the jump, only to charge home late when it's all over. Talented type on her day and can cause a scare if close enough. JACKS ON ICE (1) has built nicely into this campaign and could be ready to fire. Relishes this trip and is aided again at the weights with the 3kg claimer sticking. Serious hope. BALLON D'OR (12) was embarrassed last start but it was too bad to be true. Has ability and Pannell reuniting is a good push for her chances. THIRSTY GUEST (3) returns. No doubt looking for further but his trial placing in lead-up could have him forward enough to sneak into the frame. Don't underestimate.
SELECTIONS: Aviatress to win.

ECHUCA: RACE 7 @ 3:51 PM

KONG (2) was heavily-backed to make a winning debut for the new stable and things did not play out well in the run, but still finished off nicely. Huge chance to go one better here. FIRM AS A ROCK (9) should be fitter after three runs back from a spell and is drawn to get a lovely run. SLATE RIPPER (8) was poor last start but was a model of consistency prior to that and should again be around the mark. THEO'S CHOICE (3) was a winner three starts back and is a top-three chance at least on a repeat of that effort.
SELECTIONS: Kong to win.

DARWIN: RACE 2 @ 3:42 PM

PHAROAH MAGIC (6) was a big winner of his penultimate start and then led for a long way before just falling short by a narrow margin of making it 2 wins on the bounce here 7 weeks ago. That freshen-up would have done him no hard and even though he is up in class, he drops 6kg in weight. Stick with him. Can win. SHAKATTAK (5) is an ex-Victorian gelding who did not take long to hit his straps in this area and make it 2 wins on the bounce when scoring here by over a length at the end of July. He has been kept on ice since then but the Todd/Clarke combination is always lethal on this circuit. A market watch is advised. EXPERT WITNESS (4) is still regaining his full fitness and should not have any of those excuses after having 4 runs back from a spell. He benefits from a 3kg claim and can't be totally overlooked. BON'S PRIDE (3) is a very competitive gelding who capped off some strong-placed form with a tidy win here nearly 7 weeks ago. There is no reason why he can't go on with the job.
SELECTIONS: Pharoah Magic to win.

BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 4:39 PM

The feature of the day and VAST ART (4) looks to have found his race. He's been racing consistently this time in work, closing off well to be just 0.5L off the winner in the Listed Farnley Stakes last start. Up to this trip suits and he should be at peak fitness now. Can sit handy and prove far too good in the run to the line. CRESCENT CITY (6) disappointed last start when fading backward over 1650m in this grade. A firmer surface may suit him today, with Pike remaining in the saddle from an inside alley. His first-up run suggests he was on-song this campaign, so expect him to bounce back in a big way. RIVER RUBICON (1) kept up well first-up over 1400m and boasts a strong record second-up. He came into that without a trial, so suspect he's taken plenty of improvement out of it. He maps nicely again today and if he can improve as expected, he'll go close. ROKANORI (5) blew the cobwebs out first-up and looks well placed here. Expect sharp improvement.
SELECTIONS: Vast Art is the one to beat in the feature.
