Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 29.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Newcastle, Bendigo, Rockhampton and Northam.
NEWCASTLE: RACE 3 @ 1:55 PM
LET'S GO BRO (6) has finally drawn a decent gate and ready to win. Stuck on well when up in class for a gritty fifth over 1500m at Rosehill in Midway BM72 grade on August 17. This much easier and represents good each way value. NORTHERN EYES (2) racing in a rich vein of form and chasing his third straight victory. Surged late with the 59.5kg when a gritty winner over 1300m at Hawkesbury on August 13. At his top now and the 1500m shouldn't pose a problem. PLUCKTEN (4) promising gelding from the Lane yard who had genuine excuses when eighth over 1400m at Rosehill in Midway BM72 company on August 3. Expecting more today and go on his sound win at Hawkesbury two-back. INFERENCIA (8) in good form this prep and backs-up after ploughing through the heavy going when a neck winner over 1600m here two weeks ago. Can run into the minor money. SELECTIONS: Let's Go Bro to win.

BENDIGO: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM
MUKTAMIL (5) looks the one to beat here. He's had a few chances when hard in the market but should relish the rise to 2400m here having hit the line well over shorter at his past couple. This race lacks depth and he won't get many better chances. HE'S A TIGER (4) is lightly raced, solid in fourth when out to this trip at Geelong last time, just his third race start. Open to plenty of improvement and can win. CUBAN DAWN (2) should be ready to fire third up, sticking on well last start over 2000m at Ballarat. Up in trip should suit now and he'll be very to catch. THA MAESTRO (14) was good to the line over 2000m at Ballarat last time, giving every indication this trip will suit. The draw doesn't help. OUTSPEED (6) next best.
SELECTIONS: Muktamil on top.
ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 7 @ 2:42 PM
HELLISH (2) missed a whisker here first-up on a good track and then came back and delivered a CL1 on a heavy surface. The former Victorian was heavily backed in both and he's got the early speed to clear the awkward gate. He will be fitter again and it's hard to risk the potent Stanley-Taylor linkage. Stablemate BUSH DIAMOND (6) found Bencoolen too good last time but ran a decent figure in an Open 3 prior. He has more to give and has been kept fresh. Stanley gets off but he maps well and can't be ruled out. HANGIN' AROUND (3) is the third Taylor acceptor. He was outgraded last time but just missed in an Open 3 at Mackay prior. This trip suits better and he's lightly raced with plenty of scope. CONNEWARRE (7) peaks and can show more. He's raced well in better than this but the awkward gate needs managing.
SELECTIONS: Backing Hellish to win.
NORTHAM: RACE 7 @ 7:03 PM
TIGER LINE (2) just missed at Bunbury when beaten 1.4L over 1695m, following a good win in Heavy conditions at Pinjarra (S) prior. Pike hops back in the saddle now though and while he does rise in weight, this is an easier race to last start. Can return to winning ways. MORE LIKELY (5) steps out to the mile again today third-up into the preparation after a solid 0.8L victory at Bunbury a fortnight ago. Chris Parnham takes the ride now and while he's drawn wide, he has enough early speed to offset the alley. Can make his presence felt once again. QUEENSLAND DIESEL (1) is hard to knock on recent form following a 0.9L win at Pinjarra last start. He may get back in the run, but he should be closing off strongly if he runs up to recent form. RIG A DIG (6) can sit closer than he did last time out and an improved effort is anticipated. NOD AND SMILE (7) has been freshened and drops back to this trip. Not out of this if he's at his best.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Tiger Line.
