Today’s Horse Racing Tips – May 30

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on May 30.

Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Thursday at Bathurst, Gosford, Ballarat, Townsville & Northam.

Gosford: Race 3 @ 1:15pm

Manly Cove and On Her Word will inject plenty of speed into this contest. MANLY COVE (1) returned from a six-month spell with a tough 2nd over this distance at Wyong after racing wide up on the pace. Has drawn inside the other speed horse today so should enjoy a far better run and can go one better. ON HER WORD (5) has not raced since leading into the straight but finding one better on debut over this course and distance on 30 January. Talented filly who goes fast and will be tough to beat on this tight circuit. Debutante SUPER PINS (2) has been trialling since August last year so is well-educated and showing enough to suggest he can be competitive. MANDALONG SERA (9) ran on well at Canberra last start and is an each-way chance. SELECTIONS: Keen on Manly Cove who maps perfectly.

Ballarat: Race 3 @ 2:00pm

Dixie Built can lead from Lavrovsky. LAVROVSKY (5) will clear the gate okay and presents off four near misses. Hasn’t been having much luck and expect the rise in trip to suit. SERENE SPIRIT (12) presents third-up and should be ready to fire. She’s well-bred and should be right in the finish. WHEN STARS ALIGN (10) had trialled well and was okay on resuming after getting back. Draws out but gets his chance with the extra fitness. URBAN ARMOUR (9) improved here the latest and is in the mix. SELECTIONS: Most of today’s races look open. #5 Lavrovsky always puts in and gets his chance.

Bathurst: Race 4 @ 2:45 pm

Denace is speedy and should lead the way. DENACE (6) was unsighted in a couple of hot form races to kick off her career then led all the way to record a tough maiden win over this trip at Dubbo last time. Well-treated under today's scale and is a strong winning chance again. Gary Portelli brings debutante ROCQUETTE (9) here off a series of solid trial performances. Expect she is fully wound up for this. Another first starter in AUSBRED WAAWOR (8) should be considered following a couple of trial placings. The rest of the field offer very little - maybe BLUE TATTOO (5) has the most upside and should go in exotics. SELECTIONS: #6 Denace to win again.

Northam: Race 1 @ 3:27pm

Ascot Gold is fast and can lead. SIR MAMBO (4) has just missed as favourite the two runs back and is a promising galloper who should be winning this with the extra fitness. ASCOT GOLD (1) missed a nose resuming at York and then held that figure at Ascot. He can control the race and make the quinella. MISS QUOTED (5) placed at York and keeps improving. Peaks now and is sure to be around the mark. THE VAMPIRE (3) resumed in good order and can fill a slot. SELECTIONS: #4 Sir Mambo is promising.

Townsville: Race 7 @ 5:00pm

There looks to be good speed engaged. INTENSE FOCUS (1) couldn't deny the plunge of Sparkly Star first-up but his run was full of merit. Getting out in trip will assist him greatly. Brief glance of his form last time in when in Sydney and it's easy to mount a strong case. Awkwardly drawn but does have gate speed. Should be hard to beat. WICKED DANCER (9) is on the quick back-up. Overdue for a win but his racing pattern doesn't help him. Good enough at best and should be kept safe. MUSIC (2) greets this off a let-up. Talented winner first-up from a spell but hasn't gone on with it. Back in trip and can improve. CINNABARBOW (10) best of the remainder. SELECTIONS: Intense Focus to end proceedings.
