Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on June 5.
Five TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Wednesday at Canterbury, Sandown, Doomben, Belmont & Gawler.
Canterbury: Race 2 @ 1:25pm
Blazing Miss goes fast and should lead. BLAZING MISS (1) opened up a big margin and looked home when they straightened but was cut down late by the exciting prospect Exceedance when resuming over this trip at Wyong last start. Was beaten a nose by the very smart Tenley second up last Spring and has a close 3rd at G3 level to her name in soft going - will win this if she recaptures that sort of form. SHIELDED (2) settled midfield and picked up Blazing Miss but not the winner at Wyong last start. Promising colt who will be hard to beat again, but wonder whether a bit more ground is what he needs. Godolphin's Exceed And Excel filly AQUITAINE (7) is the pick of the first starters. Won a recent trial at Rosehill and looks pretty smart. ZOURIANA (12) has minor claims first up from a spell. SELECTIONS: #1 Blazing Miss to justify the short quote and win.

Gawler: Race 3 @ 3:50pm
Ken’s Thunder and Brakefoot Bling will race forward. KEN'S THUNDER (6) wasn’t beaten far second-up making good improvement. He has more to give and is the one they have to beat running along. ALLAYEZ (1) peaks and missed a lip at Balaklava before finding Vacant Good much to good after at this venue. He will come over and settle on pace and presents as a danger. SHIRLEY'S EAGLE (4) was tracking well before the latest and prepared to forgive. He will see it out and gets another chance. FRANK GOES BOOM (2) also comes out of the Vacant Block race and can build on that placing. SELECTION: There are a few very strong chances on the card too short to tip. SELECTIONS: #6 Ken's Thunder is ready to win and the market has got it about right.
Sandown Lakeside: Race 6 @ 3:20pm
Very even race but OUR CAMPANA (13) looks well placed here. Not far away last time in slighter lesser grade. Down in weight and will be working home hard. MISS MANDITO (2) is a strong chance after a good return this class. OREGON DREAMER (5) made late ground in stakes class last time. Winner this grade the start prior. Has the inside and can bounce back. GAELIC DREAM (15) has a low draw and good speed. Will be in this for a long way. SELECTIONS: Keen on Our Campana.
Belmont: Race 7 @ 8:45pm
Early pace across the barriers and expect a positive tempo. DRIFTSTAR (2) will run along and is ready to win off the two placings in a bit stronger. Keeps the claim and will get every chance. NICCONI'S BOY (3) resumes and can win at best. He’s trialled well and will use the rails draw. Keep him very safe. DEIMOS (4) resumes and brings a strong Lark Hill trial. Needs a good ride but has to be considered. PELICAN PICK (6) ran a peak winning comfortably at Northam and then was slow off as favourite at Kalgoorlie. He will clear the gate okay and is well in the mix at odds. SELECTIONS: Backing #2 Driftstar to win.
