Canberra Racing Club Media Release: Community Club Volunteers to be celebrated at Thoroughbred Park
The Canberra Racing Club will give away over $1,000 worth of hospitality to well-deserving volunteers of local Community Clubs with the announcement of Community Club Race Day on Friday 18 June 2021. Three competition winners will also gain naming rights to races on the day for their chosen Club.
Members of local Community Clubs are encouraged to attend the meeting in their Club colours with entry into the racecourse free-of-charge to all and prizes to be won for those representing their Club.
Canberra Racing Club Chief Executive Andrew Clark said "Clubs are a big part of what makes the Nation's Capital tick. I myself am involved in my children's junior rugby league Club as Treasurer, Team Manager & a supporter and I know many hardworking volunteers who deserve a day to be celebrated."
"There are countless people throughout our City who give up their time for the betterment of their Club and we are delighted to be able to give back to them on Community Club Race Day."
Members of the community will be invited to nominate a hardworking individual who deserves to be celebrated with three individuals winning a day at the races for themselves and friends with food & beverages on the day included.
Nominations can be made via Thoroughbred Park's Facebook page with three winners chosen on Thursday 10 June. The competition will launch on Tuesday 25 May.
One of the Canberra Racing Club's many community partners, the Ginninderra Cricket Club recently held their own race day at Thoroughbred Park. The race day and accompanying event was a massive social and financial success for the Club according to Club Captain Jak Willcox.
"To be able to call Thoroughbred Park home for our major events, is very special and a massive boost for us financially in supporting our growth as a club." Willcox said.
"Through our partnership with the team at Thoroughbred Park, we're able to reward our volunteers, players and supporters with special events that contribute to our strong community culture."
"The committee members and volunteers at our club have their own personal lives to live but are always putting in massive efforts for our Club. What they do is unbelievable and I will be nominating a few of them in the Community Club Race Day competition."
