Tomorrow night’s Advertiser/Channel 7 2018 South Australian Sport Awards presentation is promising to be a big one for racing, with no fewer than four jockeys set to have their names in lights.

Both Jamie Kah and Kerrin McEvoy have been nominated for the prestigious Sports Star of the Year Award.

Kerrin won his third Melbourne Cup last week for his ride on Cross Counter, while Jamie swept this year’s Thoroughbred Racing Industry Awards, winning a host of accolades including the South Australian Jockey of the Year.

Kayla Crowther has been nominated as the Young Professional Sportsperson of the Year after winning the Caitlin Forrest South Australian Provincial and Country Apprentice of the Year Award earlier this year.

Meanwhile, the legendary John Letts AM is to be inducted into the South Australian Sport Hall of Fame. Letts is a two-time Melbourne Cup winner and icon of the sport whose career spanned almost 30 years and 2,300 winners.

“It’s fantastic to see racing so strongly represented in this year’s South Australian Sport Awards,” said Thoroughbred Racing SA CEO Jim Watters.

“It is just reward for some of the great achievers in our sport, all of whom dedicate themselves to their profession.

“Friday night will be a great event for South Australian sport, but we’re obviously hoping for some extra excitement for racing and wish all the nominees the best of luck.”

The Advertiser/Channel 7 South Australian Sport Awards will be held at Adelaide Oval on Friday night (November 17th).
