Newcastle plays host to a strong ten-race card this Saturday with the Group 2 The Newcastle Herald Hunter (1300m), attracting a strong field on what looks to be a tricky day.
Our best comes up in the Seed People Consulting BM78 Hcp (1400m), with the Chris Waller trained mare Pippie Beach.
The daughter of Maurice gets the right setup tomorrow from the inside gate in a race devoid of early speed. Pippie Beach can tag Powerful Peg and Watch My Girl.
She gets the urgings of Nash Rawiller and looks set to peak after being three weeks between runs last start, when out sprinted over the 1300m in this grade at Rosehill on November 2.
Well found in early betting, the $2.70 on offer looks acceptable and any sting out of the ground will further help her cause.
Our next best comes up in the Ausure Insurance Newcastle BM94 Handicap (1300m), with the consistent Uzziah.
The Scott Aspery trained gelding found the 1100m too short last time out, in weaker company at Rosehill on November 2.
Tomorrow, Uzziah looks placed to advantage over the 1300m on his home track with the 2kg claim and will take catching from the good gate.
Since markets went up on Wednesday he's been crunched from $11 into $5.
