Gamblin’ Guru who has offered so much and not quite lived up to expectations, but finally gets his chance at Morphettville Parks on Saturday when stepping up to 1550m.

The three-year-old gelding resumed well in the Spring Stakes against the older horses but has failed to go on with it in two runs since, running third at this course over 1250m last start.

By New Approach, the Leon McDonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained runner looks very well suited over the 1550m on offer today and rates well clear of his rivals on weight adjusted Timeform ratings.

With Clare Lindop staying on board, Gamblin’ Guru is likely to not get as far back in this company and will be hard to hold out, Thomason the only likely danger.

Later in the day, stablemate Saturday Affair will line up in the Schweppes (78) Handicap, on the back of some good recent form.

The four-year-old mare put three wins together before stepping up in grade and running sixth at Caulfield last start over the mile.

Saturday Affair has since had a freshen up and will drop back to the 1400m where she has missed the placings just once from six starts, winning two of them.

From barrier 3 she will get a good run around midfield and prove very hard to beat against this company.

The 2013 AFL Grand Final (72) Handicap looms as a fairly open affair with Sandhill Jett right in the market at $4.50.

Backing up in just seven days, Sandhill Jett was well held over a similar trip at Morphettville last start and from four runs on the parks course has failed to even place.

Sandhill Jett once again looks up against it and will take on a couple of in form runners which includes Value As and Pull No Punches.
