It is Cox Plate day in Melbourne but winners can still be found around the country and Morphettville Parks plays host to the South Australian meeting.

Dash Forward for Peter Moody looks a progressive horse worth following. This Dash For Cash three year old comes over for a crack at some metro prizemoney at his second race start.

It may have only been Hamilton where he got the maiden out of the way but Moody has a habit of picking off those Victorian country venues for his young horses, gaining them some confidence and then bringing them to midweeks.

This race is effectively that type of grade and the small field probably suits him here as well. It was a heavy track on debut but Moody makes few mistakes with these raids.

No doubt there will be interest in others like Murtle Turtle after some black type runs and Pit Boss too but we may just get better odds because of that. The blinkers on is also interesting.

The value runner of the weekend can be Last Day who shapes as the horse to note very closely on Saturday. He half missed away on the main track on 12 October then drove through to be second in a Restricted 86 rated event.

Don’t think they were the right tactics on him and now out to 1400m he can balance up and come with one run.

Remember his efforts last campaign included a third in the Redelva Stakes, a thoroughly decent effort in a G2 at Morphettville won by Lonhspresso which has since produced countless winners and a close up run at Caulfield.

They’ve taken the blinkers off so they must think it backfired last time and punters must give him one more chance.

Not really enamoured with the switching of distances for Classy Chloe. She ran well in the Murray Bridge Cup but that was 1250m up to the mile and now she’s quickly back a furlong.

Obviously one of the best horses in the race (rated best on handicapper stats), she meets the boys again and gives most of them weight. The only one she doesn’t is Sky Raider who is a staying horse but could easily sprint well fresh.

Reckon her best form is on tracks with give in them so must note what the conditions are like. If it stays dry she is more vulnerable.
