A quiet day’s racing in Adelaide on Saturday with Boxing Day hosting the Christmas Hcp program.
Peter Moody has regularly been bringing horses from Caulfield over to Adelaide to give them confidence and La Venta looks like one of those who could get that boost.
She ran into Free Of Doubt at Kyneton who then won a Flemington last week and then last time led and was only beaten by Under The Leaner who was never going to lose.
Assuming they lead on her again, Morphettville can be a track where it is hard to pick the leaders up. She finds a lovely gate to roll over and control it, especially with the rail so far out.
While the likely favourite in Race 7 has a draw which could be tricky to deal with (see later), from the inside, Marble Rye can run well even carrying 59kg.
The Al Maher gelding raced much closer last time over the slightly longer distance and was still boxing on late in a better depth race to this.
He can find a similar spot here and is ready to fire now. The form out of the race he contested first up has been excellent.
Would love the track to remain dead as well, as two of his three wins have come on those types of surfaces.
Happy to think Chestnut Charlie in that aforementioned race is going to go around under the odds.
He won a Restricted 62 race here last week over this trip but now steps up to a competitive 72 rater against several last start winners and some pace drawn up inside him.
Maybe some punters will get seduced by the name or the last few wins. In similar company to this two back he failed miserably.
