Early Mail For Randwick On April 12

3 minute read

Early mail and best exotic plays for the Doncaster meeting at Randwick on Saturday from Chris Scholtz.

RANDWICK SATURDAY

RACE 2 (8) ROCK STURDY: Fasnet Rock colt with untapped potential who has improved strongly through his four career starts with this race in mind. Impressive winning over 1550m at Canterbury before his last start second to Singing Flame over 1800m on the Kensington track when he conceded 2.5kg to the winner. That horse made the form look good with his G2 placing in the Tulloch Stakes last Saturday and expect to see the form stand up well in this even field. Placed on a heavy track at his first start and he’s developed a lot since then.

RACE 5 (8) PEGGY JEAN: The fillies had it all over the colts in the Golden Slipper and by that measure expect the same here. This filly makes a lot of appeal on her last start second in the Magic Night Stakes at 1200m when she finished fast in the heavy going after a slow start and arguably should have beaten the Slipper placegetter Bring Me The Maid after being held up. It would appear the stable preferred to target this race over the Slipper and she must be hard to beat taking a line through last Saturday’s form.

RACE 9 (11) MISSVON: Shaping nicely as an Oaks chance after eye catching efforts at her last two starts in the Keith Nolan Classic (1600m) and last Saturday in the Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) when she was pushed widest on the turn before doing her best work in the last 100m. Stable has a knack getting fillies to peak at carnival time and expect to see her very competitive at this level after her good showing against the best Group One fillies last week.
