The Melbourne Mail - May 3

Feature racing is elsewhere this weekend but the Caulfield card is still a good one with competitive racing across the card.

The Carnival Is Over But Caulfield Puts On A Good Punting Card Picture: Racing and Sports

We can get off to a flyer with Consorting who should be settling within striking distance today off a good draw in the small field.

He is racing in terrific order and looks sure to make a mess of his current mark in time. This potentially sets up nicely for him so that time can be now.

The knock is the runs of outs which sits at eight but the $3.8 in early betting looks generous with his true price more like $2.6 in the opinion of R&S.

River Delta is unbeaten in three and comes up favourite to make it four but she can be opposed with Jessy Belle who returned with a cracking effort behind The Quarterback last time.

She should improve second-up, she was dominant second-up last campaign, and that’s going to leave River Delta with plenty to do.

Again we oppose Moody in the next (foolish?!?!) with Easy Drama coming up alongside three other principal chances in the 2yo.

All of that opposing trio have what we consider superior form to Easy Drama and hence he is opposed at the $4.20

THE MELBOURNE MAIL:

Banker: Race 1 #3 Consorting @ $3.8

Play Of The Day: Race 3 #3 Jessy Belle @ $4.60

Lay Of The Day: Race 4 #1 Easy Drama @ $4.20
