The promising Akavoroun meets a field of largely exposed handicappers in the last at Moonee Valley and on a tough/uninspiring day he makes most interest.

Racing Returns To The Valley Picture: Racing and Sports

There’s not a whole lot of meat in the $2.20 currently about but he’s certainly the most likely winner with his main danger, the kiwi visitor Popeye Braggins, copping the visitors draw and left needing plenty to fall his way.

Flyingconi was back in form at Sale and is the other with numbers to trouble Akavoroun but he two draws out and will need a slice of luck to produce his best.

In the race prior the talented Weinholt resumes two-stone lighter for a campaign where it seems his sites will be lowered.

He strikes a fairly deep handicap here but on his best form he is well placed and it would be no surprise to see him put a couple of wins together over the winter.

Big watch on the kiwi visitor here who comes across with a progressive profile and a big reputation but on bare form Weinholt is worth the gamble.

Zuma Roc broke back into the winners circle last time and did it in decent fashion but he faces a race of more depth today and comes up favourite.

On recent form he is no more likely here than the horse he beat Backstedt, the horse who clearly had his measure two back Freshwater Storm, or a third-up improver in Cornell.
