Stick with a couple of last start winners during Saturday’s program at Rosehill.

The first is Frespanol in The Grange Wyoming Benchmark 80 Handicap (1500m).

Frespanol was last seen saluting at this course, class and distance a fortnight ago.

It was a particularly brave effort by the gelding who was caught wide through the early and mid stages but still had the audacity to keep at his task in the straight.

The long neck margin didn’t do the strength of the win justice and Frespanol is capable of building on the performance at Rosehill on Saturday.

Frespanol lines up in a ten horse field which possesses a number of in form runners.

In the four-year-old’s favour though is the fact he likely has more upside than most being still early in his campaign.

The gelding should strip fitter again third run from a spell and Tommy Berry being back on deck is also a major boost for the son of Choisir.

Together, Frespanol and Berry have produced two wins and a minor placing from the starts in partnership.

While drawn a shade awkwardly in the ten horse field, it would be a surprise to see Frespanol encounter the same issues early on as he did last start.

Watch for the Choisir gelding to continue his progression through the grades.

He is currently vying for favouritism in the event against the David Vandyke-trained Church Boy.

Each are shaping as progressive types however there appears at this stage to be a greater sense of timing about the Gai Waterhouse-trained gelding.

You’ll Never was quoted at $8.00 in when markets for Rosehill on Saturday opened early in the week for the Cellarbrations Kingswood Open Handicap.

Unfortunately, this price was snapped up pretty quickly.

Each way odds are still available and after the strength of his first up win, does appear worth taking.

Settled back in the field, You’ll Never was still last on straightening and didn’t get into the clear until the 200m.

What followed was an exciting sprint and in the end a soft half length win.

Three weeks later, the gelding finds a more suitable event up in trip with added fitness second up.

You’ll Never looks perfectly poised on the limit weight and already rates highest amongst this field on weight adjusted figures from his latest showing.

With anticipated improvement on that outing, he should be hard to hold out over the closing stages.
