Best From The West - September 19

3 minute read

The Adam Durrant trained Secret Minx displayed above average ability during her maiden preparation and is a big watch fresh on debut for her new stable on Saturday.

Stepping out for just her third start, the daughter of So Secret won impressively on debut, before franking that form when not beaten far in Listed company.

Now under the care of Adam Durrant, Secret Minx has trialled well and appears well placed down in the weights.

Due to contest the fourth event, the now four-year-old rates highly using Timeform weight adjusted ratings and has drawn to receive all the favours.

Admittedly she does line up against some fellow promising types, however given Durrant's fantastic record with horses from other stables it is worth taking the gamble.

This season Durrant has saddled up five gallopers which fit this profile, four of which have been successful - overall Durrant is striking at 24% and has run at a POT of +10.7%.

Joe Azzopardi links aboard for the first time, but rode Secret Minx in her sole trial in the lead up.

Currently installed a 3-1 chance appears more than fair as if priced aggressively we have her marked 6-4 and presents a great betting opportunity.

With no weight on her back she is expected to adopt a forward position and should be in this for a long way.

The Grant Williams trained Battle Hero is due to make his return in the sixth event and appears very hard to beat.

A winner of four of six starts, the son of Stratum displayed plenty of ability in his maiden preparation culminating with a Listed win at just his third start.

Proceeding to not see out the trip in the Listed Melvista Stakes, Battle Hero was spelled and looks open to further improvement off a break.

Lining up over 1200m is some query as he will no doubt be better over further, however he is more than capable of sprinting well fresh and rates well clear using Timeform weight adjusted ratings.

Currently installed a 2-1 chance appears a more than worthy gamble as we have him marked the even money favourite.

The Wizard continues his association with the promising gelding and he should prove hard to beat.
