To use rugby league terminology it was one up, one down last week for the tips so we need a couple of winners on a day of smallish fields on the Parks.
Not hard to see a last start runner up during Cup week at Flemington as the one to back but Defiant Angel is too good to ignore for this 1400m race.
He won on this track six weeks ago and then closed off well in the race on the final day won by Rhythm To Spare.
That horse has confirmed the form by winning the Kilmore Cup at its next run so plenty of positives there.
Importantly this gelding thrives on this circuit with a record of three wins and two placings from five attempts.
He won’t ever get too far away in running and has to be hardest to beat.
We are staying with the Phillip Stokes yard (never a bad thing) and specking one having its first start in Adelaide.
Rationality is a former Hawkes representative who has had two runs this Spring and not fired.
However you must consider all her racing has been done in stronger Sydney and Melbourne events where she was well supported.
She now joins an inform team and finds a lovely barrier which is never a bad thing around the tighter track.
This is the full-sister to Mentality and so maybe she will go best ridden on the speed as he himself was strong without a devastating turn of foot.
I think we’ll get a better price on the day.
