Best From The West - May 28

3 minute read

The Justin Warwick trained Cool Passion failed to bring up her fifth straight win last start however she is tipped to bounce right back in the fourth event at Belmont on Saturday.

Only lightly raced the son of Not A Single Doubt has displayed plenty of ability and is notably unbeaten racing third up.

Forced to work from the wide draw last start, Cool Passion was left vulnerable late in the piece and in the end went down a length behind Red Publisher.

Marked six pounds below her first up performance she obviously is capable of far better and gets the pace angle to suit on Saturday.

With little speed engaged she should be able to find the front fairly comfortably and with a more economical run she should prove very hard to run down.

Currently installed a $3.20 chance Cool Passion appears a more than worthy gamble as if we have her marked closer to a 6-4 chance.

Although beaten last start she is still quite the promising sprinter and can atone on Saturday.

The Adam Durrant trained Dezzies Dream couldn't have been more impressive in her Australian debut and appears set to relish the step up in trip.

A Group 1 placegetter [1000 Guineas] over the mile in New Zealand she made her debut for the Durrant stable over the 1000m journey displaying a sharp turn of foot late.

A winner of four of her 10 career starts she has only missed the money twice and has placed second up previously.

The wide draw is a concern however if able to slot in midfield she is sure to be hard to hold out late.

As much as 7-2 is being offered about her chances which we are more than happy to play as while we respect favourite Military Ruler, Dezzies Dream looks to have more upside.

As a side note, TopBetta's Brisbane Carnival Tournament continues tomorrow with a $250,000 prize pool and while Ascot won't play a part it is definitely worth checking out.
